In honor of National HIV Testing Day free HIV testing will be offered at the Clinton Walgreens in Prince George's County on June 27-29 between the hours of 3:00 – 7:00 p.m.
The Prince Georges County Health Department and the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DHMH), Infectious Disease and Environmental Health Administration (IDEHA) have partnered with Greater Than AIDS and Walgreens to offer free screenings.
“The HIV/AIDS rates in Prince George’s County are too high and it is the goal of my administration to utilize all resources available to make these rates as well as rates of other sexually transmitted diseases decrease,” said Prince George’s County Executive Rushern L. Baker, III.
According to the CDC, the number of Marylanders diagnosed and living with HIV at the end of 2010 was 30,132. Maryland ranked 2nd among U.S. states and territories in the rate of AIDS diagnoses during 2010.
