Alleged Vince Young Imposter Arrested | News
(WUSA) -- Prince George's County Police tweeted out Friday evening that it had arrested alleged Vince Young imposter Stephan Pittman of Fort Washington on DC felony fraud charges. The police spokesperson says Pittman was arrested in Temple Hills at 2:37 p.m. Friday without incident. Prince George's Police assisted DC officers in serving the warrant.
Pittman is being held in Prince George's County. He'll face extradition to DC.
Earlier, Prince George's County police took the lead of an investigation of an alleged imposter suspected of using the identity of NFL quarterback Vince Young to con victims out of money, a police spokesman says.
The alleged imposter is a registered sex offender.
Young, now a player with the Philadelphia Eagles, has accused Pittman of posing as Young in nightclubs, at public appearances and in at least one hospital visit with an ailing fan.
Young's agent, Denise White, accuses Pittman of conning victims out of money by taking donations for Young's charitable foundation and pocketing the money for himself.
Victims are claiming losses from $500 up to thousands of dollars.
Pittman has denied the allegations in phone interviews with 9News.
Police cautionedhat the case is complex and may involve many jurisdictions.
